Why Travelers Choose to Stay at Bed and Breakfast?

                  If you are operating a hospitality establisment, of any type, the starting point of your business should be the reasons guests choose to stay at the particular type of establishment that you are operating. In this article, we are examining the reasons guests ‘choose’ to stay at Bed and Breakfasts, but in a different manner. Here are the two ‘conceptual’ reasons why guests prefer Bed and Breakfasts. 

 

1.        ‘Unique Experiences’

 

One-of-a-kind experience that guests expect from staying at Bed and Breakfast is

multi-faceted: (a) location, which implies that being on a off-beaten path can be an asset if you know what to do with it, (b) personalized services, and (c) the luxury of ‘privacy’, increasingly difficult to find in today’s hyper-connected world. Essentially, in the same manner a tailor customizes suits for their clients, operators of Bed and Breakfast deliver a customized vacation for their guests, or more aptly a ‘story’. Part and parcel in the way that is crafted, but certainly not the only means of crafting such a deliverance, may include particular type of activities, ambience, food and drinks that define the locality.

 

2.        ‘Value’

 

With the deliverance of ‘Unique Experience’, the return on the cost of the stay is

justified. That is to say, Bed and Breakfasts are in the position of justifying their value at every point in the pricing spectrum. Or, to put this another, if the operator of a particular Bed and Breakfast can fully leverage their resources, including the natural resources that are specific to their locations, then they can easily out-compete their non-Bed and Breakfast competitors whilst charging higher rates. This concept is proven with highly-rated Bed and Breakfasts that charge far higher than even branded or chain providers of accomodation in the same location.

 

                  In the next article, we are going to explore these two points in more ‘concrete’ terms. That is, we are going to examine digital tools that have been specifically crafted for Bed and Breakfast operators to ‘materialize’ Unique Experiences and therefore create Value.
